Flight search in Telegram: the VELA AI assistant module

May 30, 20266 min read

Finding a flight is a task that usually starts with opening a separate app or site. Type the route, pick the dates, spin the filters by price and departure time, compare options. The flight search module in VELA's AI assistant handles all of it with one message right in Telegram — you write the request in plain words and get the top 5 options with prices, dates, and flight details.

What the module does and which plan it's on

The Flight Search module is available only on Pro ($9/mo, paid by card or Telegram Stars). It's not on the free Basic plan — it's one of several reasons to upgrade, alongside connecting Google Workspace and other useful modules to your AI assistant.

What the module can do:

  • Search any route, including domestic flights (Almaty → Kostanay, Moscow → Kazan, etc.)

  • Filter by maximum price in USD

  • Filter by direct flights or with layovers

  • Filter by airline — by name or code (Turkish Airlines, Air Astana, Emirates, etc.)

  • Filter by departure time: morning (06–12), afternoon (12–18), evening (18–22), night (22–06)

  • Filter by maximum flight duration

  • Search by part of a month: "early May," "late June," "from the 20th to the 25th," etc.

  • Round-trip in one request, including across different months

In the reply, the AI assistant returns the top 5 options with dates and prices.

How to connect

The Flight Search module is available on the Pro plan. After you upgrade, it already works — no extra settings, accounts, or API keys needed. Just write a request to your AI assistant in Telegram and get the answer in a few seconds in the chat.

It works through Aviasales/Travelpayouts — one of the largest flight aggregators in the CIS and abroad. After the AI assistant lists the options, you can go to the Aviasales page and buy a suitable ticket (or keep filtering further on the site).

How to use it: example requests

The module's strength is natural language. No IATA codes to enter, no forms to fill. Write it the way you'd say it out loud to a friend:

  • "Find a ticket Moscow — Dubai in June"

  • "A direct night flight Minsk — Istanbul under $250"

  • "Turkish Airlines Almaty — Barcelona no more than $600 in August"

  • "Round-trip tickets Seoul — Tokyo from December 5 to 15"

  • "A flight from Tashkent to Prague in late September, layovers okay"

  • "A direct morning flight Almaty — Moscow in early May"

If you want to refine something further, just add a follow-up message. The AI assistant keeps the conversation context and understands clarifications without repeating the whole request.

By voice

You don't have to type. The AI assistant recognizes voice messages and handles them just like text.

Dictate: "find a ticket from Almaty to Bangkok in November, direct, under four hundred dollars" — and get the result. Handy on the go, behind the wheel, or whenever typing is awkward.

Voice is recognized for all of VELA's AI assistant modules, not only flight search. If you're interested in the morning digest or indices, commodities, and precious metals quotes modules — those work by voice too.

One chat instead of separate apps

Aviasales, Skyscanner, Kayak, and others are strong tools. But each time it's a separate app or site, forms with fields, filters, an awkward results page, searching adjacent dates, and so on.

The flight search module in VELA's AI assistant doesn't fully and permanently replace the aggregators — it removes a separate step when you know exactly what you need (budget, destination, dates). You write the request to your AI assistant in Telegram in plain words or by voice, get five options, pick the one you want, and continue the purchase on the site. All in one place, where the whole history of your searches and messages from your personal assistant is kept.

What the module can't do

Clear limits — so there are no surprises:

  • Doesn't book or buy tickets. The module finds options and returns links to Aviasales. You buy the ticket there yourself.

  • Doesn't search for hotels, transfers, or insurance. Flights only.

  • Doesn't track price changes in the background. There's no flight-price monitoring in VELA — to find something cheaper, just repeat the request later.

  • Search results stay in the conversation history — you can refine the request with a follow-up message, and the AI assistant remembers what you searched before.

  • No flexible "±3 days" dates. Searching by a date range is supported (for example, "from May 20 to 25"), but a command like "find the cheapest day for this route" isn't.

FAQ

Can I search for tickets without the Pro plan? No. The Flight Search module is available only on Pro ($9/mo, paid by card or Telegram Stars). The free Basic plan doesn't have this module.

Why does the module return only 5 options? It's a hard limit: the AI assistant shows the top 5 by your criteria. If the results don't fit, refine the request: add a departure-time filter, change the date range, or remove the price cap.

Are domestic flights supported? Yes. Beijing → Shanghai, Moscow → Yakutsk, Tashkent → Samarkand, and others work. Not only international routes.

Can I search round-trip tickets in one request? You can. Write: "round-trip tickets Almaty — Dubai from December 10 to 25" — the AI assistant understands you need both directions and returns options with prices.

Does the AI assistant remember previous searches? The conversation history is kept — you can come back a day later and continue where you left off. You can refine the request at any time without repeating the route.
