Currency, crypto and stock rates in Telegram: the VELA module

May 22, 20265 min read

Checking the dollar or euro rate, finding out the price of bitcoin, or looking up a stock quote — a daily routine for many who follow market rates one way or another. Usually you open a separate site or app, or set up alerts (where possible). VELA's AI assistant closes all of that right in Telegram — in one message, with no switching between apps.

What the module does and which plan it's on

The "Currency, crypto and stock rates" module is part of the free Basic plan — available right after you connect your Telegram bot to VELA.

On the Basic plan, the AI assistant can give you:

  • Rates of major cryptocurrencies — BTC, ETH, SOL, BNB, XRP, DOGE and other top tokens

  • Fiat pairs — USD/RUB, EUR/USD, USD/KZT and any others

  • Stock quotes — AAPL, TSLA, NVDA and others

  • Market indices — S&P 500, NASDAQ, Dow Jones, Russell 2000, Nikkei 225, etc.

  • Commodities — for example, WTI and Brent crude, natural gas and others

  • Precious metals — gold, silver, platinum, palladium, copper, etc.

  • 24-hour price change for each asset

  • Converting an amount, for example: "convert 1000 dollars to euros"

On the Pro plan the module is extended with:

How to set it up

The module activates automatically on the Basic plan — no steps needed.

In the dashboard there's one optional setting in the module card: the "Your currency" field. If you fill it in, the AI assistant will show the rate against it by default when you ask without specifying. For example, set the ruble — and when you ask "the dollar rate," the AI assistant will immediately show the USD/RUB pair. If you leave it empty, it'll ask which currency to show against.

How to use it: example requests

You can talk to the AI assistant in plain words — no slash commands.

Main requests (examples):

  • "The dollar rate" — the current US dollar rate against your base currency or the one you ask for

  • "How much is bitcoin" — the BTC price in USD with the 24-hour change

  • "Dollar to tenge" — the USD/KZT pair

  • "TSLA price" — the Tesla stock quote

  • "Gold price" — the XAU quote in USD

  • "S&P 500" — the current index value

  • "Brent crude" — the price per barrel

  • "Convert 500 euros to rubles" — converting an amount

On the Pro plan, requests for rare crypto tokens are added:

  • "NEWTOKEN" — searching a rare token by ticker (Pro)

  • "0x1234...abcd" — searching by contract address (Pro)

The AI assistant returns the ticker, the current price, and the 24-hour change.

By voice

You don't have to type. The AI assistant recognizes voice messages and handles them just like text.

Dictate a voice note: "what's the euro-to-ruble rate right now" or "how much is ether" — the AI assistant transcribes the speech and replies in text with current data. Handy when typing is awkward. If it mishears the name of a token, currency or stock, just send the request as text.

What the module can't do

A few honest limits:

  • No historical charts. Only the current price and the change over the last 24 hours.

  • No technical analysis. Support, resistance, RSI, MACD and so on are outside the module.

  • No buying or selling of assets. It only informs you about prices.

  • Data isn't real-time. Quotes come through open financial APIs with a slight delay. Enough for daily monitoring; for high-frequency trading, maybe not.

  • Rare tokens by ticker or contract address — only on Pro. On Basic only well-known tokens are available.

If you need price alerts, that's a separate module, available on the Pro plan.

Why it's easier than separate sites and apps

Every time you need to check a rate through a separate app or website, it's time spent switching between services. The AI assistant answers a plain question right in Telegram — the result is in a single chat with no loss of context or history.

For those who watch several assets every morning, it's convenient to connect them to the morning digest — then the rates will arrive automatically at a set time, without a direct request.

FAQ

Do I need to turn the module on manually? No. On the Basic plan the module is active right after you connect your Telegram bot to VELA.

Which assets are available on the free Basic plan? Major cryptocurrencies, fiat pairs, stocks, market indices, precious metals, commodities. Rare tokens — only on Pro.

Can I convert amounts? Yes. Write "convert 1000 dollars to euros" — the AI assistant will recalculate at the current rate.

How fast is the data updated? Quotes come through open financial sources with a slight delay. Plenty for daily monitoring.

How is this different from price alerts? The rates module answers a direct request. Price alerts (the Pro plan) work in the background: you set a condition once, and the AI assistant writes to you itself when the asset hits the level you want.
